FA chiefs are worried details revealed on Twitter and Facebook could undermine strict security around the team. England’s Euro 2016 squad and their WAGs are being slapped with strict social media restrictions during the tournament by security chiefs.
Roy Hodgson’s players and senior FA officials will be banned from posting photos and videos taken inside their high-security base in Chantilly.
Their families will also be told not to post details of their whereabouts or travel plans on Twitter, Facebook and other social media. England boss Hodgson has agreed that WAGs can travel to France for the tournament, which kicks off next month. The players will be allowed to spend time with their loved ones between matches – but only under strict conditions.
FA security chiefs are holding briefings with the squad this week at their St George’s Park headquarters. Fears of a terror attack in during Euro 2016 are high after it was included on a seized list of targets drawn up by jihadis. British special forces are reportedly set to help form a ring of steel around the England squad at the tournament. FA officials are worried that social media posts by players or their families can be easily monitored.
Wayne Rooney’s wife Coleen and Jamie Vardy’s fiancée Becky Nicholson are among the WAGs due to attend. They are banned from staying at the team hotel and will instead stay in Paris or rented homes outside Chantilly. Players will be allowed to see their loved ones briefly after matches and on free afternoons designated by Hodgson.

I timori di un attacco terroristico durante Euro 2016 sono alti dopo che è stato sequestrato un elenco di possibili obiettivi jihadisti. Le forze speciali britanniche sono pronti per blindare il più possibile la squadra inglese. I funzionari FA sono preoccupati che i messaggi sui social media di giocatori o le loro famiglie possono essere facilmente monitorati.

Non potranno comunque soggiornare presso l’hotel della squadra, potranno rimanere a Parigi o case in affitto fuori da Chantilly. I giocatori potranno vedere i loro cari brevemente dopo le partite e pomeriggi liberi designati da Hodgson.
